Can you tell me when is a good time to prune pecan trees? I've got some that are starting to get a little close to the electric line and would like to remove them before it's a problem. Almost all the leaves have fallen off the trees for this year.

Thanks

Dan

Pruning for safety reasons can be done any time of the year because the end justifies the means. If you can wait, the best time to prune is in the winter when the tree is dormant. It is also a time when you can see all the branches and get a better idea what to prune to maintain the overall shape of the tree. Besides, you have less mass to deal with because the leaves are gone (assuming the tree is deciduous)
