We have a rather large bunch of live oaks and on 1 big limb there is a mushroomy looking growth that goes all the way aroung. It is probably 10-12 inches across and a couple of inches thick. Do we need to remove the growth and then disenfect the lim or what. It seems to be growing but otherwise the tree and leaves are healthy

This is a weird one! Usually this kind of stuff grows at the ground from decaying material. You can get rid of it by spraying with Potassium Bicarbonate or Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda). It seems like you may have a problem with this limb (maybe staying too wet in the crotch?) or ????. Hopefully some of our tree experts can solve this for you.
