Here are a few photos to share with you as I ask some questions about strawberries (which I know very little about but am having loads of fun with). Last spring I bought some unknown varities of tips and stuck them in a two foot by eight foot raised bed filled with Walmart grade veg garden soil. I added some manures as a top dressing later in the summer. I think after they stopped producing in July or so. They put on berries at a decent rate then stopped and began to send out runners and tips. Two months ago we moved and I dug them up and placed them on top of what was the previous owners raised garden spot which had not been used in two or three years. It is a 15 ft x 18 ft area that had been taken over by very healthy bermuda. With a spade I turned it a couple of times and raked out all the grass that I could then put the berries in with as much of the original soil as I could hold together. Now my 20 original plants have turned into over a hundred. First question. Are they too thick to produce next year even though the ground that I put them on is extremely rich in earthworm castings? (I turned up hundreds of worms as I was preparing the ground, much to my delight!) One of the June bearing plants turned out to be another variety that made all summer and as you see by the photos is still making.
My second question is about that plant. Just as I discovered with a little research it didn't put out any runners or tips so how to I propagate it. I want more like that. My plan is to dig it up and just divide into three or four and stick them in a window in the house that gets full sun for the winter. I appreciate all your feedback. I am really glad to have found this sight.

Man, I haven't ever tried too hard to grow strawberries but I have to tell you I am green with envy! :D Those are some beautiful plants & berries! I hope someone will come up with answers for you. Since you got so many new plants you ought to have one heck of a crop next year! Lucky you! You have inspired me to give it another go. Thanks!
