I just bought this house. The neighbor has St. Augustine and the previous owner didn't keep the augustine from spreading into parts of the yard. How can I get rid of these patches of augustine? I really like the bermuda, but it doesn't look as good with the augustine patches.

Nature does not like a monoculture. I have patches of Bermuda in my St. Augustine. Previously, I did not like it, but am getting used to it. If the area is shady, the St. Augustine will prevail. If not, keep it mowed to 2" and the Bermuda will eventually take over.

I'd mow even lower to discourage the St Aug and encourage the bermuda. If you can mow at 1 inch or less, the bermuda will love it. That will expose the St Aug stolens so you can rip them out. It will take a while but you can do it manually.

For long term differentiation of the two yards, you should install a border. I have both a curb and a ground cover between my yard and the neighbor's.
