I just cut down a redbud tree in my backyard that was good-sized when I moved in to the house twenty years ago. Once it was lying on the ground I was able to measure it at 36 feet tall. The books I've seen say that redbuds seldom exceed 30 feet.
I'm looking forward to sanding the chain saw marks off the trunk so I can count the rings.
I got rid of it because it's been slowing dying over the past years and the leaves and buds have been too far above ground to enjoy them. We also want to plant some fruit trees in that area.
