Toads are good to have. They eat a huge amount of bugs. I'm not sure but from what I've heard, they breed like frogs and need water like a pond, etc. I don't think water in the garden will breed toads. They do love the moist conditions though.

The average toad will eat 50-100 insects every night - that's 10,000 to 20,000 insects throughout a gardening season. They will help eliminate garden pests such as flies, grubs, slugs, cutworms, grasshoppers, and anything else they are fast enough to catch.

Like the other poster said they really need a pond or large body of water to breed.
I set out a large plastic saucer with water for my toad (only have one or two).To cool off, toads can drink through their skin. Set a saucer of water level with the ground so a toad can jump into it. Make sure to keep it filled on hot days.

Are you sure you have toads or are they frogs? Either way it's a great thing that they are happy there and eating insects.

If you pick them up wash your hands. Some secrete some nasty stuff. Also don't let your pets bite at them. They can get sick (some species of toads).
