:?: On this forum all that is ever mentioned about grass turf types revolves around Burmuda, Buffalo or St Augustine. Are there any other types of grass seed that a person could plant that would do well in Central Texas.

Cause that's about all that will grow here. I planted crab grass this year for pasture and it is doing very well but you probably wouldn't want that.

If you're thinking about zoysia, go find a zoysia lawn in your immdiate area that's been there for 3 years and ask the owner if he/she is thrilled with it and why. If you find one, go ahead and plant that exact grass. There are enough different cultivars of zoysia that all seem to thrive on slightly different conditions, I really hesitate to suggest any one to use zoysia. If you get the wrong one, it's a very expensive and time consuming lesson to suck up.

The other grasses like rye, Kentucky blue, and fescue are considered cool season grasses. They might go dormant during the summer heat. Since that dormancy comes right in the middle fo the growing season for everything that grows naturall around here, more people go with the warm season grasses.

Is it possible to do a good winter grass and a good summer grass?
If so does anyone have any good links or a good guide they could post?
The area would be DFW.... I would want the winter grass to die off when the bermuda comes out of dormancy.
Thanks,
