Hello all
New to landscaping in general.
I have a question and not sure where to start asking
Ok so my wife wants to plant some small flowers in an area that has really hard dirt and some small rocks. I already dug down about 2-3 inches and removed some of the dirt. Here are my questions:
Should I dig deeper?
Should I spray weed killer?
Newspaper or landscaping fabric?
How much/thick does the soil need to be for the plants to grow?

thanks

You have found an organic gardening site, so the answers you'll get won't involve weed killer or most commercial fertilizers.

Soil amendments that will improve the existing soil include lavasand, greensand, earthworm castings, compost, etc.

Here is a link to bed preparation information that will help you get started.

If your soil is hard and difficult to work with as you say, then you need to make it healthier. That guide will tell you how.
