Here is a photo of some type of weed or grass growing in my bermuda. I don't believe it to be Crab Grass. It has taken over my neighbors yards and is starting to spread into mine.

Anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it?

Dallisgrass. Best bet is to dig it out with a spade fork or sharpshooter. Fill up the hole with compost.

The other option is to mow it and ignore it.

I was going to say crabgrass but either way you can kill it with baking soda. Go to YouTube and search for "St Augustine and baking soda." There is a video posted that shows the whole process.

Digging it up is the best option so you are sure the root system is out of the earth. That's really the only way to ensure it doesn't sprout back up. It's very durable.

With that said, removing the root will prevent it from growing again. Otherwise, if it doesn't bother your garden, it can be used as feed for cows and other ruminants. Be careful to return the top soil, after plowing the soil, because it contains most of the nutrients that plants needs and also to prevent soil erosion. dust control california
