My tomato plant had several blooms on it. I had 2 of them flower beautifully and close to fall off, but instead, about 1/4 inch up the stem it is broken off, nice and smooth. There are 2 others that opened, set fruit and are doing well. What is the deal with the ones that broke off. Will this happen often or is there something I need to do differently? I am going out to take a picture now, or try too and will post what I am seeing.

Here is the picture of the tomato that is set and the stems where 2 should be but broke off very clean.

File comment: The picture is a bit blurry, I know, but the best I could get. It shows the one tomato about the size of an English pea set and growing and the stem where one should be but just broke off very clean.

It could have been a caterpillar or even a squirrel that chewed the stem off. You can spray it with BT early in the morning and if was a caterpillar, it will kill it. It is not harmful to any beneficial unless they get in the wet spray.
