Aphids... I have significantly more green aphids than the last couple of years (I have a few raised vegetable beds in my backyard in Fort Worth Texas). I assume the warm Spring is the driver but am not sure what to do. They are primarily on my Kale - I've used blasts of water to knock off heavy infestations. I'm also seeing more on in my potato plants now. I would be doing some serious garlic/pepper tea spraying but I appear to have a fairly strong population of hover flies and do not want to mess that up.

Should I avoid the garlic/pepper tea as to not hurt the hover flies whose larvae could be helping to control the aphids?? I'm planning to get some ladybugs and maybe order some lacewings and well as kick up my seaweed spraying.... any advice on the garlic/pepper spraying. Thanks

Hover fly larva do eat aphids. Your kale will not be lasting much longer because of the heat and I wouldn't worry about the green leaves of your potato plants cause that's not the part you're going to eat!
