The ones on the squash look like regular size little black ants (not tiny ones). They have destroyed one of our plants at the roots and are working on a second.

The ones on our tomatillo are black but smaller, and have eaten holes all on the leaves.

What is the best spray/treatment? I can't seem to find info on this site about pest treatment for gardens/veggies.

Thanks!

A garlic-pepper spray might be your best alternative.

I have tried the recommended orange oil//molasses/garrett juice treatment - but have yet to see my ant issue dissappear. I will be trying the garlic-pepper soon.

Many people want to know how to get rid of ants, just usually not in their gardens. However, a good technique would be to coat the plants lightly in either vinegar or cinnamon, as it will deter ants and will just wash off without affecting the taste later on.
