Hello all, I live in Central Texas and have a problem. My wife and I planted a Shumard Oak in our back yard (this is our first attempt at planting trees) this spring and it isn't doing to well as of late. The first month or so it was looking good but now the leaves are turning brown and dying from the outside inwards. Looks like sunscald or scroching but we have been deep watering it about every 8 to 10 days and the ground seems to be saying moist. Also the trunk on the east side seems to be turning brown and I can't easily push my fingernail into it like I can on the healthy parts of the trunk. What have we done wrong? Did we plant it to deep, are we watering to much, can it be dug up and the bedding be re-worked? It is a bigger size tree (probably 12 feet high) and we paid a pretty penny for it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
