This is from the USFWS website:

Quote:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Wildlife Refuge Association are spearheading a public engagement effort that asks you to share ideas that will shape a new vision for wildlife conservation and the National Wildlife Refuge System. There are 553 wildlife refuges – at least one in every state and territory in the U.S. Together these refuges comprise the National Wildlife Refuge System, providing 150 million acres of habitat for more than 750 animal and plant species. Strengthening the wildlife refuge system and protecting these special places for the enjoyment of current and future generations of Americans is critical.

This website, which the National Wildlife Refuge Association manages, plays a key role in the development of a new vision document for the Refuge System. A vision document – to be adopted in July 2011 at a conference in Madison, Wisconsin – will guide this premier system for wildlife protection into the next decade and beyond.

You can help make this process a success. There are several ways to participate. Comment on the draft vision document or tell us your big, bold vision for wildlife conservation. And, of course, you can do both. Share with us your stories, picture, ideas and insights.

Help us in developing a strong, bold vision and a more vibrant National Wildlife Refuge System.

Join the conversation – create a profile if you haven’t already or log-in using Facebook.

Go read the draft, make your remarks!
