This summer I have been watching a lone Great Blue Heron nest. Four young have a fledged and are starting to move about on their own.

It is unusual for all 4 chicks to survive. With several heron/egret species the older siblings often kill the younger, smaller young so they can dominate the food coming in.

Did you take any photos that you can post or link to? I'd love to see those! We have lots of herons around my creek here in Fort Worth but I've never spotted a nest so far.
