I have extensive brown-patch on new St Augustine lawn. Applied in-organic fungicide 5 days ago, then started learning about organics. What now? Too late for corn meal? Will CMG feed nitrogen to the fungus, making it go wild? Role of molasses, compost (or tea), liquid seaweed in this case?

Thanks

Since you already applied a non organic fungicide, you're pretty much dead in the water for now. The problem is the fungicide kills the good fungi along with the bad fungi. In order to restore the good fungi, I would wait 2-3 weeks and apply compost at a rate of 1 cubic yard per 1,000 square feet. By waiting you give the fungicide a chance to dissipate and be destroyed by the bacteria in the soil.

Then 2 weeks after the compost, you can start feeding corn meal at a rate of 10-20 pounds per 1,000 square feet to help restore the really beneficial fungi and bacteria. If you want to get a jump on things, you can apply 10 pounds per 1,000 every month until May. Organic fertilizer works so completely differently from synthetic fertilizer that you can apply it any day (and every day) of the year without harming anything.
