Hi!
I'm new here and wanted to say HOWDY to you all. I have a comment about something that I read on here about garlic oil capsules being added to cat food. It triggered something in my mind that I had read a while back about the toxicity of garlic and onions. When I "googled" 'garlic and cats' I found this
information (paraphrase):
[color=#FF00BF]"ONIONS and GARLIC both contain a substance called N-PROPYL DISULPHIDE that is harmful for both dogs and cats. It destroys red blood cells in these animals and leads to a condition called
HEINZ BODY ANEMIA".I was looking up remedies for fleas that have hopped aboard my 2 cats and one cat that I am currently "baby sitting" and I was looking at possible "natural" or "organic" methods of getting rid of the wee buggers when I read about garlic capsules.
Does anyone have a natural, non-toxic remedy for eliminating fleas from my cats? I know some essential oils can also be toxic as well so I would appreciate the feedback! The cat that I am baby sitting is elderly and weighs only about 5 pounds to begin with, so I don't want to "overwhelm" his little system with too much of anything!
It's been a banner year for fleas here in Pennsylvania and a frustrating year for cat and dog owners who may have a few unwelcome hitchhikers tagging along.
LOVE Howard's show and listen as often as I can. I'm so glad this forum is here!! Thanks very much for letting a "newbie" chime in.
