I'm not sure what I will be doing with 50 acres of land. It could sit unused for the next 5 years. Should I plant grass or something similar? It was previously farmed, don't know what crop. Has been disked recently. I have no idea if it will be farmed again or ranched.

Land is located between Corpus and Brownsville, not far from the coast.

Thank you in advance.

Perhaps boarding horses? Could build a barn or give someone a few months of their rent free for building a barn.

Or leasing to have cattle run on it. My folks have some acreage they don't really use. They let a local guy run cows on it and in trade they get a half a cow every year. Not to mention ag. exemption helps a lot on taxes & doesn't require many head.

The land is basically plowed dirt. I'm thinking I should plant something to keep the topsoil from blowing away. Plus, I'd like to prep the land for any future usage.

BTW, I went to your website, very nice!

Thanks. Good luck with the planting. Hopefully someone will make crop suggestions.

Perhaps a green manure crop that would be easy to plow or till in later.

Stop plowing it and stuff will grow. Then let someone else run goats on it.
