Paw paws are very difficult to pollinate because even though they have male and female flowers on the same plant, the female parts and the pollen don't mature at the same time. Therefore you have to have plants with different genetics to get fruit. When you do, it's really worth it - delicious. Expanded details about paw paws for you in the next issue of the DIRT.
