Welcome New Users,

The purpose of this forum is to help users learn how to use the discussion board, or alert admin to problems.

FAQ's
Here is a link to a list of frequently asked questions about using this discussion board.
http://www.dirtdoctor.com/forum/faq.php

Or, you can click the small FAQ button at the top of the web page. This FAQ list will help you with most of the basics on how to use this site. Its also a good idea to browse the other topics contained in this Help forum, as you may find an answer to your specific question.

Logging In - Posting a Message
You must first Log In with your chosen User name and password if you would like to post a question, or respond to another post. The Log In button is located at the top right corner of the Web Page. You do not have to Log In if you simply want to read the board. You'll notice buttons at the top of the green banner at the top of each message box within a forum: New Topic & Post Reply. After you've Logged In, Simply select a particular forum, such as TREES (click on the title), and click one of those buttons to create a new topic/question in a forum, or to reply to another post that you are reading.

Navigate
You'll notice titles at the top of the green banner at the top of each message box: Forum Index > How to use this Discussion Board. The titles will change depending on which forum you are in. You can always click on one of these titles to take you back to a previous location, or you can use the Back button on your browser. Simply click on the title of any given forum to enter it, and click on the topic title to view a specific post.

Search Feature
Its always a good idea to search the board and see if there may already be an answer to your question, or general information about a given topic. You can use the Search feature by clicking the small Search button at the top right corner of the Web Page. You can then search the board by looking for specific key words, topics, users, etc. Because there are so many topics posted on the board, you may not see them on the first page of a forum topic list - searching is a great way to read posts you may not have seen otherwise.

Personal Profile
You can always edit and update your personal profile with as much, or as little, information as you'd like. Simply Log In, then click the Profile button at the top right corner of the Web Page. You have the option within your profile to hide your email address. Other users will still be able to contact you privately using the Private Messaging Function (PM) of the board, but your email address will remain hidden. We find it is helpful to at least provide your general location, gardening zone, or whatever other information will help other users best answer your gardening questions.

Private Messaging
If you would like to exchange email addresses, information, or questions with another user privately, use the Private Messaging (PM) function. Simply Log In, then click the PM button containted in a post of the particular user you want to contact. You can then type them a message that can only be viewed by that user. If you can't find a post by the user you want to contact, you can always search the Memberlist (button top right corner) or the Search Feature.

"Advertising"
Please feel free to include your personal information, websites, etc. in your personal profile, but please refrain from posting advertisements for your business on the board.

Thanks!
Have fun
