I have millions of pillbugs. They eat holes in my hostas, etc. Because my property has lots of trees, (shade) and rocks it is a great habitat for these pest. I currently use DE to help keep them off the plants, what else can I do?

I was successful using an old Jerry Baker remedy, soap. I'm no longer a JB fan, but this one worked for me way back when.

I put a cup of liquid dish soap in my hose end sprayer along with a cup of sugar water (about 11 teaspoonsful), and sprayed it everywhere. I had foam EVERYWHERE, but I never saw any more live pill bugs until recently. Now they are back in moderation. I can handle that.

I still enjoy JB's folksy delivery. Not that I agree with all of his methods, but he is entertaining! "It's like lightning in a bottle" (or somethink like that).

Perhaps the impact could be lessened by reducing (by 1/2?) the amount of soap used, and replacing ordinary dish soap with a castille based soap like Dr. Bronner's. OR try one of the cedar products by CedarCide http://www.cedarcide.com
