Good afternoon,

This is my first posting. I've got a garden which sees a bit less than full sun. I've expanded it and planted it initially around April 1st. I used a bunch of composited manure, a bag of lava & green sand plus some molassis.
The spring being quite wet, I lost most of the tomatoes rot. Spraying one heavily with garraett juice, it survived but is very small. Then with all the rains came hail- massive hail. I replanted about middle of April. Only plant to really survive the first round was a big Arkansas traveler. The plants are mostly 3-4 ft tall and stout (I've got 6 plants), but there is almost no flowers or fruit. Think I've got 1 tomato set.
Last year I was knee deep with the Stupice plants. Did I end up with some large nitrogen embalance from the composted manure?? How to salvage the fruit set before fall planting in July?

The leeks are fine, the beet, carrots seem slow on forming bulbs. Cabbage was a complete failure as no heads formed.

Howard never mentions crow rotation in his book on gardening- is that an unesscary thing with organic gardening as the soil is more active????

He does mention row crop covering- Is that only benificial in the spring/fall with cool weather or can in be of a benifit in the summer??

Fairly new to Texas.

Michael

I usually pinch off all my blooms until about now anyway to ensure a big strong healthy plant. I'm just now letting the blooms go. I would suspect that your lack of blooms is because you're not getting enough sun.

Hope others can weigh in with comments.
