I was not going to go this far afield with the bird photographs, but one of my images appeared on the Audubon's web site. Consider it a late Valentine's Day card.

Obtaining the photographs of the puffins was almost more expensive than I planned. To reach Eastern Egg Rock Island, photographers and gear have to be shuttled in a dingy back and forth from the island and the big boat. In the process, fortunately on the way home, my tripod ended up on the bottom of the ocean, about 60 feet down.
Amazingly enough, a couple of days later the manager of the puffin project arranged for a scuba diver to retrieve the tripod. A week later I had it back, cleaned, oiled and fully fuctionally.
Here is another puffin photo and video clip describing the puffin re-introduction project.
