Hello,
I live in Highland Village right next to FM2499. We hear a lot of noise from the road now and it is soon to be expanded. Can anyone help me with what i can plant at the fence line to block out noise from the road? It will be full sun exposure.... wind.... auto fumes. I'd like something low maintence and naturally nice looking.
Thank you!

Unfortunately, plants aren't as effective at noise reduction as walls. If plants are the only choice, use a thick mass of evergreens including cedar, yaupon holly, live oak and magnolia.

Of course I agree w/Dirt Doc & wanted to add that red cedars are so fast growing & spread so wide that they would surely help w/noise, pollution, etc. If you would like to PM me, I'd gladly give you dozens of cedar saplings or as large as you'd like to dig. We have so many in unwanted places, you (or anyone) are more than welcome to come get them. Our property is 8 mi east of Bonham. PM me & we could set a time for you to get them.
