I have planted four rows of sweet corn. Most of it came up really well. However, I had an area of about eight feet that did not come up. I dug up the seed and it had sprouted, but had not come thru the top of the ground. Upon a closer inspection I found several small worms in the seed. They were off-white with a golden hue, were about 1/2" long and skinny little pests. On some of the seed they had eaten all the inside of seed and others were just mushy.

What would these guys be and what can I do to get rid of them? Where I planted my corn this year was in a new area that has been tilled for the first time in about thirty years. This was previously a pasture and has had no chemicals or pesticides in the last five years.
