I kept telling myself I was going to plant St. Augs, but now I'm realizing zoysia might be a good choice - does anybody have any thoughts?

It really depends on your traffic in the area and whether you have full sun or not. If you have full sun and low traffic, then Zoysia is a pretty good choice. Personally, I like Bermuda best in full sun. But, if you have partial shade, higher traffic, then go with the St. Augustine.

Zoysia is just to slow a growing grass to take any traffic. It would have many bare spots very soon.

Well, I live across the street from a middle school, and I think some of the kids might be walking through my yard, so I guess maybe St. Augs is the way to go.

remember that st. augustine is very aggressive after it is established and will take over the nieghbors yard in a few years. if he/she has bermuda they may not be happy. it is also harder to push mow due to its thickness and is prone to brown-patch disease during high humidity and prolonged rains.

My neighbors are all renters, like I am, but I'm crazy. Screw em if they don't like their new lawn overlords.
