Greetings All,

My wife and I just purchased our first house, and i noticed the St. Aug sod has spacing in various locations. Most of the gaps are around 4-5in. Is this correct. We have our walkthrough tomorrow, so I would like to address the problem before we sign anything. Any help would be great.

Thanks

4-5 INCHES??!!

It should be flush. If it's healthy and green, I would insist on organic earth or compost be spread AND tamped in to fill in the "spaces." The St. Aug will then spread.

If not, you will have a rolling wave of a yard. Sounds like a fast, shoddy sod laydown to me

I will address it today in our walkthrough, being that the sod was just laid, is it to early to start with the corn meal + or should i just use water for a while?

Corn meal IMMEDIATELY! Fresh sod is usually over fertilized at the sod farm leaving it susceptible to fungal disease. Corn meal will prevent that.

It does sound like a slipshod job. Too bad. Remember not to call that landscaper for anything.

Absolutely! :D And those insects leave their fertile droppings and fertile dead bodies behind when they die. Corn meal also attracts birds, lizards, and toads to eat the insects and leave their fertile droppings on the ground. If you keep in mind that all these creatures work together for the benefit of your soil and plants, then you're on the organic track.
