I read buffalo grass can be fertilized at the most just once. Can corn gluten meal (CGM) work out well (@ 20lbs. per 1000 sq. ft)? I am thinking of using CGM on buffalo grass because I understand buffalo grass is not invasive and can be easily taken over by weeds especially when the grass is watered too much either by nature or man.

Since CGM can stop (or slow) germination and mildly fertilizes the existing buffalo grasses, the product seems like a good fit. I think I should only do it once in September. Is another application in spring too much for buffalo grass? Or is CGM overkill for buffalo grass? Or should the rate be lower for buffalo grass?

I have prarie buffalo grass.

I'm still learning about buffalo grass. From what I think I know, CGM would be way too much fertility for buff. It really does need absolute neglect to look its best.
