I have been using organics for about 3 yrs now and this year with all of the rain and such I have been getting some places in my back yard that the grass is a very light green almost yellow. I feel like it is a lack of nitrogen in the soil and would like to get the opinions of someone as to how to raise those levels naturally.

Thanks for the help!
Steve

The abundance of rain could have caused an iron deficiency also.

Do a forum search for greensand to find some related posts.

Here's a good post where Dchall_San_Antonio explains the problem:

Natures Guide 9-2-2 fertilizer has 1.5 percent iron and I believe it is in its most bioavailable form. This will help with both the possible iron deficiency and nitrogen deficiency, but be ready to mow once every 5 days after it is applied. Greensands iron is not immediately bioavailable and it is released over years by bacteria under anaerobic conditions. Many cases of iron deficiency in north Texas lawns are a symptom of a root problem such as a fungal disease, grub worms, soil compaction, ect, or your soil pH being way outside optimal levels

It also could be the places in the yard where the water drains, or sits!
With all the rain we have been having constant draining leaches away nutrients to places where gutters wash out or water falls from the roof. Also low sots on the lawn that fill with water and smother the roots.

Check and see!

I agree that Texas greensand is a good tool in this case. I don't know about Jersey greensand but the Texas stuff is very quickly available. This kind of problem is often not just an iron deficiecy but an overall trace mineral lack. The TGS contains a wide range of available trace minerals which is why it works so well.

Is the Yellowing of your grass in spots or is it all over? Is is a dusty substance? My wife & I own our own nursey & lawn care service. we fertilize organically. We live in Kansas where we've had a lot of rain. Onl two yard that we care for this yellow substance has appeared in the last week. We're courious if this could be the same iron defiency & here can one locate organic product with iron replacement.
Thanks
