I keep a potted ficus on the front porch. It came inside for the winter. Half of the tree lost its leaves. Any Ideas?

5th word in on your question answers it.

A ficus loses leaves if you look at it angrily.

Basically it didn't like the transition. Did it grow more leaves back?

It didn't like coming indoors which is why it lost it's leaves. This is normal. Also, over watering inside can aggravate the problem. Don't let it get a sunburn outside; it has to get used to the new environment. Unless it is dead, it should recover fairly soon. Once it does, use the amendments recommended on this website to keep it healthy.

Ficus can do this if they're overwatered.

Also, you mentioned that this was on the porch. Is there any chance that a cat could be using your tree pot as a litter box? This happened to our Ficus. If you think it could be an issue, try placing pine cones on the soil. Pine cones are too rough for their little paws, so cats avoid them.

We repotted our Ficus with fresh soil to help it recover. And after repotting, we tested branches for dead wood, and pruned where necessary. Our trees recovered.
