We have some wonderful big trees in our yard that I would never want to do anything to hurt. We also bought a beautiful hammock in Mexico and two of our beautiful trees are the perfect distance to hang the hammock from. My question is: " Would hanging a hammock hurt my trees?"

Thanks,
KSHaw

I would think that the ropes or other fastening material would damage the cambium layer of the tree. Maybe you could put up posts to hang the hammock from?

Using eye-screws to attach the hammock is certainly not good for the tree, but I don't think you should be concerned. Eventually, the bark will just grow around it and it will become part of the tree. Just look at all of the tree houses that are built using lag-bolts. As long as you have a good quality tree, I think you should hang it and enjoy. Kent
