The myrtle is about 7 years old and started shedding tree bark yesterday. I may have spread a bit of corn gluten meal in the bed but that's the only different activity. Should I be worried? Tree is otherwise healthy, growing, green and now flowering. thanks!

This is about as normal as a tree shedding it's leaves in the fall. Enjoy the variation and color in the bark.

I am surprised you never noticed it before. Mine do it every year as they grow. It's akin to a snake shedding it's skin.
