I have 3.5 acres and everytime we go into the yard to work/play etc we get eat up by chiggers. Any long term solutions without dusting yourself everytime you go out?

Add sulphur to your soil. No more than 5 pounds per 1000 square feet, though. Another great ammendment is sul-po-mag. It has Sulpher, Potassium and Magnesium in it.

I like using tea tree oil on chigger, mosquito and fireant bites.

I do not believe sulfer will harm the tarantulas. It makes me happy to know that you realize tarantulas are beneficial. These soft and furry friends of ours are some of the most gentle creatures.
Apply the sulfer at 5 pounds per 1000 square feet. Too much sulfer is not good for anyone!

We go to our acreage on the weekend & were eaten by savage chiggers until we did the sulphur treatment to the areas that we frequent the most. But the best thing is to pour powdered sulphur in a sock, tie it off & powder your ankles & waistline w/it. Works great.
