I am putting up a above ground pool, what can I do to get ride of the grass so it will not come up thru the liner. Thanks

I wold think that the grass would die if it has, placed upon it, a piece of black plastic (or is made of another material? My father used this technique once before). Another idea: a neighbor of mine rented a grass-stripper last weekend for 4 hours from Home Depot rents ($70/4 hours).
