I made the HUGE mistake of using a "Twisty Baby" "specimen" tree in my
front foundation planting. It looked so cute and twisty that first year. Well, apparently it is a freak form of a Black Locust. The following spring straight branches emerged and grew to about 10-12 feet. I wasn't deterred and trimmed it back to it's twisty height. Little did I know that as it was sending out mammoth branches, so was it sending out nearly identical roots which happily began to sucker all over my yard. We just mowed them down, but they were persistent. After a couple of years of this growth, I realized that it was time to ditch this tribble tree. We cut, we dug, we pulled roots up all along the foundation. That was during dormancy. Now my suckers are returning all over the front and side yards and as I try to pull up roots, I am finding that the yard is basically a spiderweb of tough, long roots at various depths.
Should I just keep trying to pull up all I can? Will they ever give up? HELP

On most trees you can starve the roots if you are diligent in your mowing. But, I've never dealt with a Black Locust.
