 Post subject: going to seed early

Location: Hugo, OK
I planted tendergreens and mustard greens in early March. Two weeks ago they started flowering and going to seed. The leaves didn't fill out like they should. We have sandy soil. Does anyone know why they went to seed before they were ready to pick?
