Would you have any idea what type of insect might be eating our sunflower
leaves? We sprouted them from seed and they are about 4 inches tall. Planted in our yard in Dallas. I would like to know what to use to treat them.

Are you certain that insects are the problem? Can you see any? I had problems with something eating my young sunflower sprouts, sometimes just the leaves, and sometimes down to the ground, and I think it was squirrels or woodchucks.

My solution was to plant them in starter pots and keep them sheltered longer before planting them in the ground. It seems silly for something so hardy as sunflowers, but in my case once the animals got wind of them, they'd dig up the seeds as soon as I replanted, or come up on the patio and eat them from the pots.
