My friend lives on a golf course development; her yard is totally organic and has lots of trees. Her problem is copperhead snakes. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

Lots of black snakes.

Get rid of the food supply.

Another alternative is to use the sticky bug catchers. Put them up against a wall and when the snake rubs against it, it sticks. If you have anything nearby that the snake can attach to, it will pull itself off.

You friend will need to eliminate or severely reduce the environment that Cooperheads like. That would be the leaf litter and wood that the trees shed. Caution them to be extremely careful when mowing or picking up the leaves and brush. Most Cooperhead bites occur on the hands/feet area when the victim steps on or over the snake, or when they reach into the area. They are a rather shy snake which lies in wait hidden from it's prey. If they have access to a riding mower/tractor that would be nice.

Let us know the progress your friend makes.
