Do red bud trees take several years after planting, to get established and put on a good flower show?? This is the third spring since planted & the flowers have been real poor. I see small/young red bud trees around town & the branches are just solid with flowers; my tree has a couple of flowers on a few branches. :( I've planted the tree by the book.

Is the flowering performance directly connected to its health. I mean, will the flowering show increase as the tree gets healthier.

To answer one question: yes, flowering performance and tree health will be directly connected.

Some things you should look into: did you plant it too deeply? In other words can you eassily see the tree's root flare at the bottom of the trunk?
What kind of fertilizing program are you using?
How is the tree in the season after blooms are all gone?
