We've had this problem with getting pink and red dogwoods at the nursery, and for the first year they are indeed pink or red. However, the next year, the bracts come in -- WHITE. The trees haven't died back and put up shoots from root stock, these are the same limbs that had pink/red bracts the year before. I'm stumped considering the suckers are grafted. Anyone else had this happen?
