I have been on the organic program for the last 7 years. Each spring, the pecan trees in our yard have these brown flying beetle looking bugs that hang around the pecan pods for about one month. Nothing seems to work to control these bugs.

Can somebody tell me if they are beneficial or bad and what they are called?

The best way to eradicate and control if bad?

Many thanks,
Bob

Are you seeing any damage? If not, I would not worry about them. "Brown flying beetle looking bugs"? Makes me think of June bugs, but it's a little early for them (where I live, anyway).

The beatles are much smaller than June bugs. I should try to post a digital picture.

A picture would be most helpful. More important, do you see any damage being done?
Also, I did find two June Bugs in a pail of water yesterday. They're here....

I've had june bugs here for at least 3 weeks. Dog snacks is what my son calls them. :)
