Has anyone in the Northeast Texas area grown papaya trees from seed and planted them?

lindak; You may get more responces to this question if you post it in the "trees" portion of this forum. A quick web search indicates that papayas are being grown in Houston. It appears that to grow them in this area you would have to take care to shelter the trees from frost in the winter as they are not frost tolerant.

I'm new also :D It is a great forum with people that go out of the way to help. I did a little more searching on growing papayas. There is a group called the California Rare Fruit Growers Association that has good information on this topic. The only problem is that they are not organic and recommend lots of fungicides for papayas. It appears that a tea made from corn meal would achieve the same affects.
