Does anyone out there know of an organic lawn care company that provides service in Hillsboro? Hill County seems to be in a no mans land for just about everything. Its located about 35 miles north of Waco and 55 miles south of Ft Worth. To demonstrate how unserved we are, I couldn't even get Chemlawn to answer my email about coming up here. I'm very interested in converting my lawn to organic but really need help from some professionals if they are willing and able to travel here. If I do nothing else this year with the lawn, I plan to add compost (probably Dr. Gobbler if I can find it and get enough for my lawn). I assume this can be added at any time?

Thanks for any assistance.

Carl

Give these guys a call. If they won't come down there, they might be able to help you find someone closer to you who will.

Yes, you can put compost on your yard at anytime. Just don't put it on too thickly. A half-in to an inch at a time will do wonders. Think about using compost tea or one of the liquid compost products and molasses to water in a spread of horticultural cornmeal. And remember you can spread a good organic fertilizer anytime of year without fear of burning or harmful effects. By the way, Sam's Nursery in Hubbard has a selection organics as do several locations the other direction in Burleson.

Hope that gets you started on the right track.
