I have a new each tree I planted this past winter. It's only about 3 feet high with a few main branches, but it has about a half-dozen small peaches already developing. Do I pick these off and just let the tree grow this year or should they be left alone? Thanks.

If the tree looks healthy and vibrant, enjoy the few peaches. If you think it needs an extra boost, pick the peaches off and let the energy flow into the tree.

GASMAN,
My uncle in Missouri has a large peach orchard and when I planted 2 new trees in my back yard I asked the very same question of him. He said he does not allow the tree to produce for the first 2 years after planting so that it can use its energy to grow. I followed that advise with great success. He is a commercial grower and that's how he gets the best production from his trees. Does that mean that allowing your tree to produce now will hurt it or will it only reduce future production (by limiting the trees growth)? Hope this helps.
