I have some Nana Nandinas and am wondering if I should trim them. They aren't growing evenly and I would sorta like to round them off but don't want to hurt them. They are about knee high and not growing evenly in that they're not round, square, larger on one side more than the other.

I'd just like to even them out and give them some shape and it seems like I've read that Nandinas shouldn't be trimmed...Help!

That's how the Nana variety grows, kinda like a bad hairdo. They also don't look very healthy in the summer with different colored leaves that are mostly chlorotic. If you want a clipped appearance, go for it.
The larger taller variety, domestica, is the one you can't trim like a shrub. The proper method would be to cut the tallest shoots off at the ground to reduce its height.
