My mother-in-law has a pumpkin that she doen't know what to do with. It is approx. 65 inches in circumference and 2 1/2 feeet tall. It's awesome, but when does she pick it? It has been orange since about late July. Should she pick it? Turn it in to the state fair? Some books that she has read say not to pick it until late fall. She's scared that it might spoil by then.

Hi Tim,
Wow, sounds like some great pies will be forthcoming! Here's a site that will help with what you need to know.

http://www.pumpkinnook.com/growing.htm

She may want to consider entering it at the fair!

Hi Northwesterner,

Glad you liked it. It certainly has lots of helpful info. Wonder if Tim's mother-in-law ever entered that contest.
