I have a potted basil plant outside that's covered in itty bitty flying white bugs. The plant has brown spots on its leaves. The insects fly around when the plant is disturbed and I'm worried they'll start affecting my other herbs. Does anyone know what these bugs are? Any suggestions on ways to get rid of them? I'm obviously looking for something safe to use as this is an organic website and I want to actually eat the herbs . Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me out!

Try a liquid seaweed solution such as Maxicrop for the whiteflies. Make sure you keep it shaken up real well while applying it.
The brown spots sound like another pest to me. Do you see any pretty beetles about 1/4 inch long with black and white stripes on their backs and are bright red underneath? This is the four lined plant bug. Pretty, but damaging.
