About a year ago we planted a Magnolia tree. This spring it's leaves are turning brown and it has lost probably 1/2 of them. It does however have tons of blooms that are beautiful and some new growth. Is it sick or is this normal? I wasn't sure what to do for it. Any help would be great.

we had a problem with our magnolia several years ago and it sounds like you have the same thing. We were told it was low on magnesium. What we were told to do was buy granulated magnesium and spread it around the base of the tree and outward to the width of the limbs. Spread rate would be based upon manufacturers recommendations. After this was done it started to go back to its original green glossy leaves.

Epsom Salts is a good source for that. Magnesium and Sulfer.
