After purchasing 3 crape myrtles last summer I waited and put them in the ground in the fall so they wouldn't cook. They each still had some leaves on them and were looking good. When they started putting out leaves this year on one of them the leaves kind of looked purple green in color the other two were the normal green so I sprinkled garret juice around them and watered it in so it wouldn't be too strong and the leaf color got better but since then I've been having to water them twice a day or they would wilt. One is white blooms Queen something and the other two are Red Rocket. Any suggestions?

What did you do to prepare the planting site and the myrtle for planting?

I dug a whole twice as wide as the pots and loosened the soil at the bottom of the whole adding a little shale and lava sand to bring it to a good level and mixed in compost with the soil I removed then placed my plants and filled with that mixture and watered. Before placing the plants in the ground I loosened the soil and roots around the plant and at the bottom of them so the roots wouldn't curl.

Having to water twice/day is a bit much. Perhaps if you put lava sand and compost on the ground around the plant, it wouldn't dry out as much.

dvnde, you've created a pot in the ground which is why you are needing to water so much. When you plant something, do not add anything to the hole since you want the plant to root out into the existing soil. Also, did you soak the root ball throughly before planting? Before planting it is also important to find the root flare (so you don't plant too deep) & to cut/loosen any circling roots (which will eventually choke the plant). The amendments are great to add to a large area around the tree especially after aerating the soil. Use the Garrett Juice or Sea Weed Extract as recommended on the bottle as a root stimulator (no need to dilute unless you do it often). You may need to re-plant to correct your problem (waiting until cooler weather comes would possibly be better). Search this discussion board & the info on the homepage for more info.
Good Luck!

I think you're overwatering. Wilting leaves can be a sign of overwatering or underwatering. I bet that if you let the soil loose a little moisture (let it dry just a bit) BEFORE you water again you will see improvement over a week or 2. Continue to water like that and you might kill them.
