When you stand over grass and you look down at it, you see no dirt. Thats what I want! When I stand over my grass, it looks like its balding, I see the dirt and its very thin the grass.

I recently planted it and overseeded I thought. I live in Stamford, CT 06902. I used Tall Fescue Grass bought at Walmart. Ground gets saturated very easily as it has a 5% grade. Soil is very rocky underneath.

What can I do?

33 Views and no replies!! Yeah, nice board. Thanks a lot.

Doesn't take long to say, add new top soil and add more grass seeds.

Thanks again!

If you already had the answer, why did you ask the question...

BTW, you might try reading a little BEFORE you post a question...IMHO 8)

I think most of the folks on this board are from Texas, so we are not real familiar with grass that grows in CT.

I like the format of this board, but unfortunately it hasn't been real active for a while. People use it to post a question, but not to hang out and chat. Have you tried GardenWeb? There are lots of very active forums there.

The fastest way to thicken up your grass would probably be to spread a thin layer of screened compost over your turf and brush it in. Insure you are mowing for the correct height for your grass type and follow the general guidlines listed at the top of this forum.

Sorry you are not happy. I view alot of posts and do not feel qualified to answer every one, many of my posts get lots of views by both new and old participants and may take a week before I get a response from someone who does feel comfortable/knowledgeable with answering. I could answer your question with common sense like you indicate but it would not really answer your question. If you want a nice lawn try the zoysia, I planted it in my yard in Colorado Springs 20 years ago and last week when I visited there the yard looked great (still zoysia).

But, in the interest that maybe this is what you are after. Go back through this section of the forum (lawn care) you will find your answer by reading the many many posts on improving the soil, how to amend it, fertilize it, water it.
